The Spaniard Dani Pedrosa won the season finale of the Moto GP season on the 4th of November at Valencia, ahead of the 21 year old World Champion Casey Stoner. With this victory Pedrosa advanced to the second place in the overall World Championship standing. As a result Pedrosa was able to reprehend Valentino Rossi to third spot overall.

For Valentino Rossi the year ended with another defeat and reflected the course of the season. One point out of the last race would have been sufficient to secure the vice championship title, but his Yamaha had to retire during the race.
